Share Groups:
Fundamental to our life together in the Mother of God Community is the need to grow in holiness and develop committed relationships as brothers and sisters in Christ that enables us to experience the call to Community life that is recorded in the Acts of the Apostles. (Act 2:42-47; 4:32) Participation of our members in share groups advances this cause. Therefore, the Mother of God Community share groups are open to all who are interested in growing in holiness, developing committed relationships, and forming Christian Community.
Purpose:
1. Growth in Holiness: A brother or sister
participating in a share group must desire to grow in holiness. Therefore,
one must be striving for a disciplined prayer life, seeking God on a daily
basis in prayer, scripture reading, rosary, and daily Mass (when possible.)
A disciplined prayer life of the individual brother or sister will in turn
benefit the entire share group.
The share groups provide an opportunity to gather together in charismatic praise and worship, vocal and contemplative prayer, sharing the Word of God, teachings of the Community and fellowship. The dynamics of a share group provides its members with an opportunity to encounter Jesus Christ in the power of the Holy Spirit leading them to personal holiness.
2. Develop Relationships: In the sharing of ones life in a share group, we come to know the depth of our Baptism, which made us brothers and sisters in Christ, adopted sons and daughters in the one family of our Heavenly Father. This creates a unity, love and a desire to share our lives together. In forming Christian Community, the importance of developing committed relationships among the brothers and sisters cannot be overstated.
3. Forming Christian Covenant Community:
Participation in a share group implies that one is discerning God's call to
community life and a desire to actively participate in the life and mission
of the Mother of God Community.
