Welcome to the webpage of the Mother of God Community, a Catholic Covenant Community in the Diocese of Trenton. I pray as you visit our webpage it will give you insight into our mission and life together as brothers and sisters in Christ and in Community.
It has been said that forming covenant community is nothing less than a miracle. It takes sacrifice, total dedication and radical commitment to live and share new life in the Holy Spirit as brothers and sisters in Christian Community.
These sentiments where expressed by Bishop Stanislaw Rylko, Secretary for the Pontifical Council for the Laity, while delivering the personal greetings of Pope John Paul II at the 2001 North American Regional Conference of the Catholic Fraternity of Covenant Communities: The process of formation is demanding. Christ requires radical choices from his disciples. The whole gospel needs to be taken seriously and lived to the fullest. Sweetened forms of Christianity in the long run do not convince anybody. We need to have the courage to aim high, especially with the youth. One of the secrets of success of the movements is that they do not restrain from demanding decisive choices from people. The movements are not afraid of placing high demands. The Church needs the ecclesial movements! The Church needs the Renewal in the Spirit!
As part of the ecclesial movements, the establishment of the Mother of God Community as a Catholic Covenant Community is a radical response by its members to the action of the Holy Spirit. Community members over many years have fervently prayed, sacrificed and committed themselves to work and build this Catholic Charismatic Community in the Diocese of Trenton.
On January 1, 2010, giving praise and thanksgiving to Almighty God for His love and faithfulness, “The Covenant” of the Community was signed at Holy Mass on the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, establishing the Mother of God Community as a Catholic Covenant Community.
Pope Benedict XVI has stated: "The movements and new communities, are like eruptions of the Holy Spirit in the Church and contemporary society.” Glory to God!
